Health Economics

Our Health Economics team has extensive knowledge, skills and experience in undertaking work that may assist government and community groups and medical organisations including knowledge of:

  • specialist health economics services (cost benefit analysis and return on investment analysis);
  • market sizing, segmentation and profile analysis;
  • health program evaluation;
  • statistical and econometric analysis;
  • pricing and regulation;
  • design, conduct and analysis of health outcomes research; and
  • health workforce demand and supply modelling and projections.

Our Health Economics team is led by Dr Lesley Russell who is the inaugural Menzies Foundation Fellow at the Menzies Centre for Health Policy which is co-located at the University of Sydney and the Australian National University. Most recently Dr Russell was Policy Advisor to the Shadow Minister for Health and Manager of Opposition Business in the House, Julia Gillard MP and to the Leader of the Federal Opposition, the Hon Simon Crean, MP.

Our Health Economics team produces two detailed bi-annual publications including the Commonwealth Health Budget Bulletin and Commonwealth Indigenous Budget Bulletin. Summaries of these budget bulletins and a number of other topical publications are available free from this website. The Indigenous Bulletin is availiable free of charge to community groups and students.
